centos broken grub update

ahhh here is a little gem that gives me nightmares:

it would appear the latest GRUB update corrupts the boot process, although this is probably fixed by now.

i cannot imagine a better way to ruin the beginning of a new week than to try to have to quickly learn how to fix a GRUB boot. its probably not that difficult, but i cannot imagine trying to do it (and learn it) under a great deal of pressure. crap like that gives me ulcers just thinking about it.

has there ever been a time when doing an innocent "yum -y update" could do so much damage?

the more i think about it, the sicker i feel.
